Has AOT really ended? Will there be a sequel to it in the future? Here's what we think.
After that highly controversial chapter 139, AOT finally got its conclusion after 13 years and people.....about it to say the least. Perhaps it was because of this that an additional chapter was given to us along with an apology by Isayama which was definitely not needed. That aside, lets talk about the chapter.
How Mikasa Saved Ymir
The first page picks the story where it ended the last chapter with Armin announcing to the Marleyans soldiers how he defeated Eren. It is from here that we see Mikasa encountering Ymir and how she "saved" her as we are told in the previous chapter.
This page is particularly interesting. As we see Mikasa telling Ymir how she thought Ymir's life has been one big nightmare according to her, we see an alternate ending to the "To You In 2000 Years From Now" chapter, where Ymir does what she wants to and not something she is supposed to do. We are told in the series that titan shifters can regenerate as long as they have their will to live. A mere spear killed Ymir because she was tired of the life she had to live for king Fritz. Also, Mikasa saying how her life is created by Ymir may be a hint towards a way in which the Eldians and Ackermens are connected as both are connected by their own paths.
It can be considered that Ymir was freed from her salvation after seeing Mikasa kill Eren with her own hands. She loved Eren and was supposed to protect her as said again and again from the first season, but considering the situation and seeing her resolve gave Ymir a glimpse of how her own life would have been if she let King Fritz die.
And talking about the last panel of page 3, something everyone has been talking about since the leaks. No, Mikasa's husband is not Jean. More accurately it is not mentioned in these pages who he is. Isayama left the husband's identity on the interpretations of the readers. Sure he can be Jean if you want him to be, but it will never be a definite fact (unless Isayama says so)
Rest Of The Pages
The following pages are quite easy to understand as everything is presented to us as it is. Mikasa visits eren's grave from time to time show how he may be gone but she hasn't forgotten about him. Time moves on with continuous modernisation and war. As long as people shall exist, the wars will do so too.
AOT Sequel? Who is the kid?
